Claude O. Tackett, Partner

Claude Tackett was born in Ashland, Kentucky, and reared in the Appalachian Mountain region of Eastern Kentucky in Pike County, the largest county by area in the Commonwealth. The son of a Kentucky State Police trooper, Claude graduated from Morehead State University, majoring in robotics, after which he worked for several years as an engineer for original equipment manufacturers essential to the automotive industry.

Graduating with honors from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 1999, Claude first practiced with a litigation group in a large full-service Louisville law firm and has been a litigator ever since. After practicing in Louisville for a few years, Claude moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he lived for over 18 years. In South Carolina, Claude represented small and medium-sized municipalities, with an emphasis on land-use and zoning litigation. He also served families in their pursuit of adopting children. However, the most significant portion of his practice was the defense of medical malpractice cases.

In the summer of 2021, Claude came home to Kentucky to partner with Phil Monhollen, his best friend from law school, and Ron Sheffer to continue his litigation practice in Louisville, where he first practiced law more than 20 years ago.  Yet again he is primarily engaged in the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases as well as assisted living, skilled and long-term care facilities.

Claude and his wife, Laurie, have four children, who enjoy all things outdoors.
